Tuesday, February 2, 2010 9:06 AM CST One of three juvenile detention center escapees, accused of beating a corrections officer to death Saturday and eluding authorities Sunday was captured Monday. Brandon Henderson, an 18-year-old Fort Smith resident wanted along with two juveniles for the beating death of Jack Jones Juvenile Justice Center guard Leonard “Sandy” Wall, was found in Sebastian County Monday morning and arrested in Sequoyah County following a pursuit that involved Sebastian and Sequoyah county deputies. Henderson’s arrest came a day after his alleged accomplices and fellow detention center escapees, 16-year-old Christopher Beverage of Fordyce and 15-year-old Nicolas Bismuke of Helena, were arrested at a Van Buren business. The youths were arrested after Jefferson County deputies, who were in the area on their trail, developed leads regarding the juveniles’ whereabouts, provided by families of the juveniles, according to Maj. Greg Bolin of the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. “Once (the escapees) got to Fort Smith, Henderson went his own way because he is from Fort Smith,” Bolin said. Law enforcement agents in the Fort Smith area were advised to be on the lookout for Henderson, who had been held in the juvenile detention center in Pine Bluff on charges of aggravated assault, criminal use of a prohibited weapon and battery prior to his escape, according to Bolin.
