| US Seeks Access to Erie County Jails |

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - The federal lawsuit over conditions at the county jails, returns to court Tuesday. The US Department of Justice Civil Rights Division is now seeking expedited access to the lock up. This stems from a lawsuit aimed at improving conditions and procedures at the jail. Erie County Sheriff Timothy Howard said, "Here in Erie County, prisoners are treated not like hotel guests, but citizens should be assured that our inmates are treated firmly, fairly and constitutionally."
