| Violence at Canadian Jail Under Investigation |

The Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services is investigating separate assaults of two offenders that occurred within about half an hour at the Sudbury Jail early Wednesday evening. One inmate was transferred to Sudbury Regional Hospital after being attacked, said Stuart McGetrick, a Toronto spokesman for the ministry. McGetrick said he could not provide details about the man's injuries or whether he was released from hospital because of privacy considerations. Several "ranges" or units of the jail were locked down after the assaults and one area remained locked down Monday, said McGetrick.
