| Former Guard Sentenced for Bringing Gun to Work |

A former state corrections officer who once tried to hire a hit man to kill his girlfriend's husband was convicted this week for taking a loaded pistol to his job in Williston. The man reportedly claimed he would kill his co-workers if they told anyone about the gun on the job site. On Tuesday, a Levy County jury found Richard A. Williams, 50, guilty of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of ammunition by a convicted felon. He was sentenced to five years in the Department of Corrections to be followed by five years of probation. Jurors found Williams guilty after hearing testimony about his behavior on August 19, 2009.
