| WV Guard Facing Child Porn Charges |

CHARLESTON, W.Va. -- A prison guard at Mount Olive Correctional Complex has been indicted by a federal grand jury on child pornography charges, the U.S. Attorney's Office announced Thursday. Joseph Dwayne Valentine, 40, of Gauley Bridge, allegedly received 14 digital files in November 2007 depicting minors engaged in sexual acts, and possessed one or more hard drive and CDs containing child pornography, according to the indictment. Valentine appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Mary E. Stanley on Thursday, who placed him on home confinement with electronic monitoring pending trial. If convicted, Valentine faces up to 30 years in prison. In other federal court news, a North Carolina man was sentenced Thursday to more than 15 years in prison on drug conspiracy and witness intimidation charges. Read More. |
