A 45-year-old inmate at Vaughn Correctional Center was found dead in his cell Saturday, four hours before a 35-year-old inmate was found hanged in his cell in Young Correctional Institution, state prison officials reported Monday. The inmate at Vaughn, near Smyrna, was identified as Randall Reynolds of Bridgeville, who was serving time on a robbery conviction. He was pronounced dead at 6:49 p.m. after being found unresponsive in his cell, state Department of Correction spokesman John Painter said. Reynolds' body was turned over to the state Medical Examiner's Office to determine the cause and manner of death. The results are pending toxicology tests, said Carl Kanefsky, spokesman for the state Department of Health and Social Services. Painter said foul play is not suspected. Read More. |
