| Inmate Funds Likely Fall Short |

MASON - Just when you thought Ingham County had solved its 2010 budget deficit, a new hole has developed. It doesn't look as if the state will pay Ingham County the entire $380,000 it was expecting through the state's County Jail Reimbursement Program. The state ran out of money for the program last summer, three quarters of the way through its fiscal year, and has not funded the program this budget year. The program pays counties to house inmates who were eligible to be sentenced to state prison, but due to a judge's decision were sent to county jail. Counties across Michigan hope to eventually recover some of the money they had expected.
