| County Inmates Waiting for Bed Space |

TAHLEQUAH — From Press staff reports Nearly a quarter of the Cherokee County Detention Center population is waiting for prison bed space, governmental building authority members heard Wednesday. CCDC Administrator Loyd Bickel said 95 inmates were incarcerated at the time the authority met Wednesday morning. Twenty-two of those are awaiting transportation to a Department of Corrections facility. “We’ve got room for them [at CCDC],” Bickel said. The facility’s capacity is 150 inmates.
