The 30-year old Irvington man who walked out of the Hunterdon County Justice Center after a jury found him guilty of weapons charges on March 3 is in jail today after turning himself in. According to Chief Dan Hurley, of the Hunterdon County Prosecutor’s Office, detectives in the fugitive unit “had been conversing with Estenson Clervil in an attempt to resolve his surrender in a non-confrontational manner.” Clervil presented himself to the county Corrections Department at about 11 a.m. this morning, according to George Wagner, county director of Public Safety. On March 3, Clervil was in state Superior Court on trial after his arrest in Union Township on Jan. 29, 2009 for unlawfully possessing a knife. He was also to be tried on a second weapons charge related to a previous conviction for aggravated assault. While attorneys were discussing procedural issues following his conviction on the first charge, Clervil left the court to go to the men’s room but then walked out the lobby of the court house and fled with the help of a family member, according to Hurley.
