| DE Prison Guard Stabbed by Inmate |

One prison guard was stabbed at least once and another assaulted by an inmate at Vaughn Correctional Center near Smyrna on Tuesday night. The guard who was stabbed was treated by on-site medical personnel before paramedics arrived at the scene, then airlifted to Christiana Hospital. John Painter, spokesman for the Delaware Department of Correction, would not say where the guard was stabbed. Painter also would not specify where inside the prison the 7:30 p.m. stabbing occurred and said the department was not releasing names Tuesday night.
