| Inmate Dies in FL Prison, Investigation Ongoing |

An investigation continues into the death of a Graceville Correctional Facility inmate following a fight with another prisoner last week. Jason Jerry Owens, 31, died March 12, shortly before 10 a.m. from injuries received in the March 10 altercation. A person of interest has been developed in the case, according to Gretl Plessinger, spokesperson for the Florida Department of Corrections. She said prison officials are meeting with the state attorney’s office today to present evidence and discuss how to proceed. That prisoner, whose named has not been released, has been moved to Florida State Prison in Raiford. Information on the type of injury that killed Owens will not be available until a determination is made about the charges, Plessinger said. Read More. |
