Residents with safety concerns or other questions about the Wernersville Community Corrections Center can raise them with the center's director at a meeting Thursday. Wernersville State Hospital grounds in South Heidelberg Township, home of the Wernersville Community Corrections Center. The meeting in Calvary Bible Fellowship Church in Lower Heidelberg Township starts at 6 p.m. Center Director Traci Jacobson will take questions. The state Department of Corrections operates the center on the grounds of Wernersville State Hospital in South Heidelberg Township. The facility, which has a capacity of 360 residents, opened in 2009 after Firetree Ltd., Williamsport, a private company, stopped operating a halfway house and drug-and-alcohol-treatment center at the site. Jacobson told Wernersville Borough Council in January that the center houses an average of 250 inmates, including both violent and nonviolent offenders but no convicted sex offenders.
