| OK Pastor Builds State Prison Chapels |

ENID — The Rev. Joe Wilson recently was honored by the Oklahoma Legislature for his project of building chapels at state penitentiaries. “This has been the most challenging and rewarding project ever embraced by World Mission Builders,” said Wilson, of Enid. The first project was a chapel at Eddie W. Warrior Correctional Center in Taft and will be followed by chapels in 15 other state prisons. “We have accepted the challenge to do 15 more. Three are in the final stages of organization, two at Dick Connor Correctional Facility at Hominy, one inside and one outside,” Wilson said. Wilson is project coordinator for World Mission Builders. Ed Thomas, director of the organization, forged a partnership with Justin Jones, director of Oklahoma Department of Corrections, which resulted in construction of the chapel at Eddie Warrior Correctional Center. Volunteers from eight states, along with community volunteers and offenders at Eddie Warrior and Jess Dunn Correctional Center, also in Taft, provided labor for the project. The chapel is finished and is in service. “The Chapel Creation Coalition provided leadership in fundraising, soliciting donated goods and services from the business community, and recruiting volunteers for the project,” Wilson said.
