(March 23) -- The University of Alabama professor accused of gunning down three colleagues denied even attending the faculty meeting where the shooting rampage occurred, a police officer testified Tuesday. Clad in a standard-issue red prison jumpsuit, Amy Bishop, 44, appeared at her first court hearing, the shackles on her ankles and wrists clanging as she entered the courtroom. She did not speak during the hearing, where she was ordered to remain jailed without bond as prosecutors prepare to present their case to a grand jury. A judge ordered Tuesday that Amy Bishop remain jailed as prosecutors prepare to present their case against the Alabama professor. Authorities say Bishop opened fire during a biology department faculty meeting at the Huntsville campus on Feb 12. Three people were killed and three others wounded. She is charged with three counts of capital murder and three counts of attempted murder. If convicted, she could face the death penalty. Read More. |
