| Man Gets 6 Years for Child Endangerment |

TOMS RIVER — A 61-year-old Lavallette man who snatched a child's puppy and then used it to lure the boy into his home where he sat naked was sentenced today to six years in the state's prison for sex offenders. Superior Court Judge Francis R. Hodgson imposed the prison term on Mitchell D. Yasuk of Newark Avenue for child endangerment. Hodgson ordered Yasuk to serve five years of the prison term without any possibility of release on parole. The judge imposed a concurrent prison term of five years on Yasuk for child luring. Yasuk pleaded guilty to both charges on July 21. Hodgson ordered Yasuk to serve his term at the Adult Diagnostic and Treatment Center in the Avenel section of Woodbridge, the state Corrections Department's facility for sex offenders. Yasuk was convicted of endangering the welfare of two children in the late 1980s and placed on probation then, said Assistant Ocean County Prosecutor Laura Pierro. Read More. |
