A jailed teenager charged as an adult with attempted murder will be sentenced Friday and is requesting in court records that he be placed into Idaho Department of Juvenile Corrections custody for no longer than his 21st birthday. According to a sentencing memorandum filed Tuesday by David Heida, lawyer for Michael Cannon, 17, the nonfatal shooting of Craig Hadden a year ago today is comparable to another attempted murder that made national headlines out of the east coast more than a decade ago. “This case strikes uncanny similarities to the 1992 case of Amy Elizabeth Fisher, known as the ‘Long Island Lolita,’” Heida wrote in the court record. Fisher, at 17, shot the wife of her adult lover Joey Buttafuoco. In the Hadden shooting, Cannon, at 16, pleaded guilty to attempted murder in the nonfatal shooting of Craig Hadden, a Shoshone businessman, and ex-father-in law to Cannon’s alleged adult lover, Traci Hadden.
