With fifteen years under her belt, former corrections officer and author is making headway using her experience to assist law enforcement professionals from being manipulated by offenders. CC Fann will be featured on a panel at the Maryland Criminal Justice Association (MCJA) Spring Training Conference. MCJA looks to foster professionalism within the field of criminal justice. As a former corrections officer, CC Fann uses her fifteen year experience to examine manipulation used by jailed offenders. The Prison Rape Elimination Act has been heavily discussed amongst law enforcement professionals since its inception, due to the rise of sexual misconduct between staff and offenders and the raping of inmates by other inmates. This is something that is not being ignored by Department of Corrections. CC Fann recently published an article on corrections.com, an online magazine dealing with corrections both nationally and internationally; which received recognition for its candor and real to life examples. In “What Are They Telling You That Makes You Fall in Love With Them?” While Ms. Fann has never participated in misconduct, she has been affected by this issue. She said in a recent interview, “Any time an officer is walked out of the gate for misconduct it sends a message that as a team, we have been violated. Do not risk your job for an inmate that has nothing but time to manipulate and/ or swoon you.” Ms. Fann is scheduled to appear Wednesday, April 14 at the 2010 MCJA Spring Training Conference, New Decade-Same Challenges in the Key West Conference Center. She is on a panel with prestigious colleagues who will discuss “Who do you tell?/Keeping Staff Safe.” C.C. Fann is the author of "Commonsense: Do Not Play Games With An Inmate” is a sought after expert and frequent panelist on correctional issues and has appeared at nationwide conferences to include: the National Association of Hispanics in Criminal Justice, National Association of Black in Criminal Justice, International Association of Correctional Training Personnel, Women in Corrections Conference, and the Southern States Corrections Association Conference. |
