ONTARIO - Police officers contend there could be more victims related to a rape, carjacking and kidnapping on Saturday. Ontario police arrested a California Institution for Men corrections officer and a Westminster police detective after a woman was kidnapped in the parking lot of Ontario Mills and later raped. Detective Anthony Orban on Saturday night was arrested on suspicion of rape, carjacking, kidnapping and false imprisonment. Corrections officer Jeff Thomas Jelinek was held on suspicion of carjacking and as an accessory to the crime. Orban and Jelinek were booked at West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga. They were each being held in lieu of $1 million bail. "This is an absolutely vicious attack," Ontario police Sgt. David McBride said. "We kind of feel the way it was orchestrated, it may not have been the first time. We're concerned. We want to make sure the public can feel safe calling us or (someone) who may have been a victim of a similar crime." Read More. |
