CONCORD – An inmate is missing from the North State Street minimum security unit. Jonathan McKnight, 27, of Manchester, was in the 281 North State Street facility at 11 p.m. when the inmates were counted but was gone when another count was taken 2 1/2 hours later. At 1:45 a.m., he was placed on escape status. The minimum security unit, known as the Corrections Transitional Work Center, is a step higher than the half-way house which is next door. Inmates at the center are allowed to leave prison grounds under supervision while those in the halfway facility operate more independently and may leave unsupervised. McKnight is described as a 5-foot-3 black man weighing 140 pounds with brown eyes and black hair. He has a tattoo on his neck. He is serving a 3-to-6-year sentence on a robbery conviction out of Rockingham County Superior Court. He entered the prison on May 13, 2008 and would have been eligible for parole on July 11, 2010 until he walked away. His maximum release date was July 10, 2013. Read More. |
