Man Sentenced in Child Rape Case

A tearful mother asked a Lake County judge Tuesday to send the Waukegan man who "ruined her baby" to prison until her 14-year-old daughter graduates from college.

"I feel that this man is very sick. He needs to be put away," the Waukegan woman said at Marcus Calhoun's sentencing hearing.

Calhoun, 29, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. He admitted to having sex with two girls when they were 13 and 14 between Dec. 1, 2008 and Aug. 31, 2009.

He approached the girls as they were doing laundry in the basement of the apartment complex where the 14-year-old victim resides. The 14-year-old's mother said she caught Calhoun in the laundry room and he claimed he was just asking the girl for laundry detergent.

In her victim impact statement to Associate Judge George Bridges, the woman said she told Calhoun to stay away from her daughter, but said that did not deter him from raping the teen.

"He invaded my space and took advantage of me ... it still hurts to this day," the 14-year-old said in her victim impact statement. "I hope he isn't allowed out (of jail) because that would tell people it's OK to rape someone."

Has your insurance claim been denied after business interruption or a storm? Regrettably this is all too common. That’s why it is important to contact an insurance coverage attorney to explain your legal rights to determine if your insurance company unlawfully denied, delayed or diminished your claim to coverage under your insurance policy.
