Convicted Murderer in Hospital

The man convicted of killing a 12-year-old girl from Bowdoin more than 20 years ago is in the hospital.

A spokesperson for the state corrections department tells TV5 Dennis Dechaine was admitted to the hospital Monday, but she can't say why, citing confidentiality laws.

Dechaine is serving life in prison for the rape and murder of Sarah Cherry in 1988.

But he maintains his innocence and a judge is currently reviewing the case to see whether Dechaine deserves a new trial based on DNA evidence.
