| Ottawa County Jail Sued By Inmate |

A former inmate of the Ottawa County jail has filed a lawsuit in federal court against the county, sheriff, jail lieutenant and others claiming he was denied “critical psychiatric and diabetes medication” while incarcerated, according to a statement by his attorney. The complaint, filed last Thursday, states that 51-year-old Randall Modd, who is bipolar and diabetic, experienced “loss of sleep, extreme anxiety and emotional distress, fear, apprehension, confusion, hallucinations, as well as physical pain and suffering” from having his medications for both conditions cut off when he entered the jail. Sheriff Gary Rosema, jail Lt. Steve Barr, several other jail employees and Secure Care Inc., which provides medical services to the jail, are listed as defendants. Read More. |
