| Coroner Investigated For Receiving Money From DOC |

AUBURN - Cayuga County Coroner Dr. James Dolan confirmed Tuesday that he is under federal investigation regarding the Hatch Act, which prohibits employees of agencies that receive federal loans or grants from holding public office. The U.S. Office of Special Counsel is obligated to investigate any Hatch Act complaint filed. Dolan, who works for Auburn Memorial Hospital and Auburn Correctional Facility, accused legislators at Tuesday's meeting of the Judicial and Public Safety Committee of filing a complaint against him in an effort to thwart a bid for re-election this fall. “I am not a politician, I am a doctor,” said Dolan, who claimed the Legislature is “trying to take me out of an election.” Legislators said they had only just learned of the investigation Tuesday, when Dolan brought it to their attention.
