| Halfway House Options Looked at by Mayor |

Hazleton Mayor Lou Barletta continues to explore the city's options when it comes to zoning issues regarding a downtown halfway house as city police wrestle with a series of crimes committed by absconders from the facility. MinSec absconder Jeffrey Wright told police he robbed the M&T Bank on West Broad Street a week ago and was involved in an attempted robbery at the same bank Monday, Police Chief Robert Ferdinand said. Wright left the MinSec community corrections facility the morning of April 5 for work and did not return, MinSec spokeswoman Kate Philips said Wednesday. The first robbery happened at 4 p.m. on April 5. Wright, however, told a district judge he left the facility on April 6 - the same date that state Board of Probation and Parole has for the date he walked off. Read More. |
