| Man Gets 50 Years For Shooting Officer |

Michael Gonzales apparently can't wait to get to prison. After a Lubbock County jury Wednesday morning sentenced him to 50 years for shooting at a police officer in 2006, Gonzales asked the judge to expedite his transfer out of the county jail. Once he gets to the Texas Department of Corrections, it will be at least 25 years before he is eligible for release. Prosecutors praised the jury's decision. "I think the verdict shows both how important law enforcement is and what they think of the crime and this defendant's actions," prosecutor Alicia Crowley said. Read More. |
