HUDSON, Colo. (CBS4) ― The prison in the town of Hudson remained on lock-down Wednesday night after about a dozen inmates found their cell doors unlocked and participated in a disturbance. The trouble began about 1:30 a.m. Wednesday at the private Hudson Correctional Facility. The spokesman for the prison, Charles Seigel, said it was either a computer malfunction or a mistake by a guard that caused the doors to unlock for 41 inmates in one pod of the facility. Most of the prisoners stayed inside their cells, but about a dozen walked out and started breaking things in the pod. "They smashed water sprinklers and so there's a lot of water on the floor. That sort of thing. They trashed a bunch of the machines that are around there. They tried to break through some of the windows to get out," said Seigel. Seigel said it doesn't appear that anyone intentionally unlocked the cell doors. Throughout the incident the prisoners were always confined to their pod. Several of the inmates were hurt. They suffered minor injuries. Read More. |
