Killer remains on the loose

A CONVICTED murderer was still on the run last night after escaping from Langi Kal Kal prison in Trawalla yesterday morning.

David John Scott was serving a minimum 12-year jail sentence for stabbing a man to death with a World War II bayonet in 1999.

The 48-year-old escaped from the minimum security facility by climbing out of a window.

He was discovered missing at a 6am morning muster.

Scott was last sighted by a truck driver who picked him up about five kilometres from Horsham about 11am yesterday.

He was dropped off in Horsham's city centre and told the driver he was heading to Adelaide.

Scott - who is of solid build with a bald head - had changed his clothes and appeared clean-shaven.

He was wearing a black and white checked shirt, tracksuit pants and a black beanie.

Victorian Corrections Commissioner Bob Hastings was yesterday at a loss to explain why Scott - who was due for parole in March next year - decided to escape.

"We had nothing to indicate that he might behave in this way,'' Mr Hastings said.

"He was being prepared for release back into the community.''

Scott was sentenced to 17 years jail with a minimum of 12 years in 2000 after pleading guilty to murdering former Israeli paratrooper Elijah Wolf Ross in March, 1999.

The intellectually deficient Scott attacked Ross with a WWII bayonet as he slept in a caravan at a tomato farm near Echuca.

The Riverine Herald reported that Troy Allan Kitchin pleaded guilty to being an accessory to the murder.

Has your insurance claim been denied after business interruption or a storm? Regrettably this is all too common. That’s why it is important to contact an insurance claim attorney to explain your legal rights to determine if your insurance company unlawfully denied, delayed or diminished your claim to coverage under your insurance policy.
