Former City Councilman Ambrose Bailey has been ordered to serve two years in prison for taking money from funeral accounts and forging death certificates. Bailey previously pleaded guilty to 20 charges, including multiple counts of forgery and embezzlement. Numerous other charges were dropped. The evidence shows that Bailey spent money people paid in advance for funerals at the former Bailey Funeral Service on personal items. He also forged doctors' names on multiple death and cremation certificates. Judge John Alderman yesterday sentenced Bailey in Fredericksburg Circuit Court to a total of 71 years in prison, with all but two years suspended. Read More. |
