| Inmate Saves Teacher From Jail Attack |

GRAFTON — An inmate at the Lorain Correctional Institution jumped in to save a teacher who was being assaulted by another inmate, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction. The incident happened Monday, according to department communications director Julie Walburn. The teacher suffered minor injuries. The inmate accused of assaulting the teacher suffered “more substantial” injuries and required outside medical attention, Walburn said. The inmate who intervened to help the teacher was not injured. No names or details are being given because the incident remains under investigation by the Ohio Highway Patrol. There also will be an administrative investigation by the corrections department.
