RICHMOND, Va. (AP) ― Victims of violent crime soon will be able to visit their attackers, even if they're on death row. Legislators on Wednesday approved Gov. Bob McDonnell's change to a bill that allowed visits to those on death row. When the bill passed the General Assembly last month, it allowed meetings with other offenders but excluded those on death row and juveniles. The juvenile exemption remains in the final bill, which will take effect July 1. Victims advocates fought for the meetings, which are allowed in most other states. Read More. |
