A guard at the State Correctional Institution at Camp Hill suspected of supplying inmates with marijuana and cell phones has been suspended, and a Harrisburg barber accused of being an accomplice is behind bars, authorities said. Kevin K. Atkins, no age or address given, is identified in court documents as the corrections officer who state police said they suspect was smuggling the contraband into the prison. Authorities said they became aware of the operation through an inmate’s tips. According to state police, Atkins would receive 4 ounces of marijuana and $200 cash from a person outside of the prison. Atkins would bring the pot into the prison, keeping the $200, police said. Atkins has not been charged, but a spokeswoman for the prison said he has been suspended. Read More. |
