Almost a month after the pre-trial hearing on March 28, Bellamy Creek Correctional Facility Corrections Officer Tameka Brown plead no contest Wednesday to disturbing the peace in a place of business or a public building. The plea is a misdemeanor with a fine of $150. “We worked as best we could with the Department of Corrections that the plea is going to allow her to return to her employment,” said Ionia County Prosecutor Ronald Schafer. “It was never our intent that she would lose her job.” Brown was originally charged with felonious assault due to an altercation with inmate Daniel Ervin on Feb. 18.
