| Inmate Walks Away From Work Assignment |

COLUMBIA -- The S.C. Department of Corrections is searching for an inmate who walked away from his work assignment Monday at a restaurant in Columbia. David Thurman Holmes, 26, was confirmed missing from Deno's restaurant on Saint Andrews Road about 5:40 p.m., according to a news release from the Department of Corrections. Holmes started serving a six-year year sentence for second-degree, non-violent burglary in April 2009. He was convicted in Lexington County. Holmes, who is housed at Campbell Pre-Release Center in Columbia, is 5 feet 11 inches tall, about 165 pounds, with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt and blue jeans.
