One of two teens who escaped from the Department of Youth Affairs yesterday has done so for the second time and was held there on multiple charges including attempted murder.

The public is being asked to be cautious because officials aren't sure what the teens can do.

"Just be careful because they did come from here," said Pascual Artero, acting director for DYA. "We don't really know what these boys are capable of."

The 17-year-old and a 15-year-old escaped from the Youth Correctional Facility in Mangilao around 4 p.m. yesterday, according to a release from the department.

Artero said some teens at the facility were on a work detail at the facility when a commotion broke out inside. Artero said that, after dealing with the situation, officials did a head count of the teens and found that the two were missing. "We are trying to gather our report to find out how they escaped, and what they were doing at that time," Artero said.

He added that the escape was reported to the Guam Police Department, which will assist DYA's Youth Correctional Officers and the Department of Corrections' Response Team to conduct a search.
