Mitchellville, Ia. - An inmate at the state women's prison at Mitchellville was restrained by prison staffers Sunday night after she kicked and punched two correctional officers and spat on a third officer, officials said. None of the officers suffered life-threatening injuries, said Fred Scaletta, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Corrections. He said the prisoner, Andrea Nicole Paterson, was taken to a high-security prison unit. The Polk County attorney's office will consider whether to prosecute her, he said. Read More. |
