The Detroit police officer crawled across the yard of the cream-colored duplex, yelling that he'd been shot. Another officer lay facedown and motionless in a pool of blood inside the home in northeast Detroit. A neighbor rushed to attempt CPR as officers provided cover, but to no avail: Officer Brian Huff, a husband, a father and 12-year veteran, was dead. Four of his colleagues were wounded early Monday in a hail of bullets that greeted police responding to a 911 complaint of shots fired inside the vacant home.
