Guard's Discrimination Lawsuit Resolved

A federal lawsuit filed by a state prison guard in Fayette County has been resolved through mediation, one of his attorneys said Monday.

Lois E. Glanby, a McMurray attorney, confirmed that the lawsuit brought by John J. Yanik Jr. of South Union against the state Department of Corrections has been closed. Citing confidentiality, Glanby said she cannot comment on the outcome of the case.

Yanik claimed in the suit that he was a victim of discrimination after co-workers at the State Correctional Institution at Fayette in Luzerne accused him of being homosexual.
