David Perry was probation and parole officer of the year two years ago in Louisville, Ky., supervising defendants released by Jefferson County courts and state prisons. Now he has gone to where many of them came from: inside the Jefferson County jail. Louisville Metro Police spokesman Dwight Mitchell says Perry is "being charged with five counts of official misconduct, one count of tampering with physical evidence, and one count of interfering with a participant in the legal process." Investigators say Perry accepted sexual favors from former inmates who violated the terms of their probation or parole, trading sex for their freedom rather than returning them to jail. Mitchell wasn't able to give us specific information about the accusations. "This is an ongoing investigation at this time and I cannot divulge that information." We do know one allegation states Perry received oral sex in the Kentucky probation and parole office on Broadway. Perry was arrested after one of his clients eventually complained to the Commonwealth Attorney's Office. Prosecutors contacted the Louisville Metro police Public Integrity Office. Mitchell says the investigation will continue. "At this point, we are interviewing and getting statements and we're still putting together the investigation together to find out what went on." Perry is being held without bond at Metro Corrections. |
