KEARNY - The state Department of Corrections moved more than 150 civilly-committed sex offenders out of the Hudson County Correctional Facility yesterday, ending an arrangement that was supposed to be temporary but lasted a decade. The offenders were transferred to East Jersey State Prison in Woodbridge, said Oscar Aviles, director of the Hudson County Department of Corrections. Civilly-committed sex offenders are people who have served their prison sentences for sex crimes but are deemed too dangerous to be released into society. Read More. |
