Funeral Home Con Artists Go To Jail

The former operators of the Ziomek Funeral Home in Livonia are expected to spend at least two years in prison for not paying back more than 60 people they duped out of money for pre-paid funeral contracts.

Nancy and Christopher Ziomek of Canton were sentenced Monday to two to 15 years with the Michigan Department of Corrections after pleading guilty in Wayne County Circuit Court to violating the terms of their probation, which required them to pay an initial amount of $150,000 in restitution by May 3.

“The incarceration was the end result of them making promises they could not keep,” Wayne County Assistant Prosecutor Robert Spada said Tuesday.
