OSCEOLA COUNTY, Fla. -- What does a janitor, a Publix employee, a pet care worker and a salesman of magic tricks have in common? They have all applied to be the next chief of the Osceola County jail. It’s the same jail that's struggled with escapes, corrupt guards, and bad inmate behavior WFTV talked to some of the applicants. The county thinks the job pool is not big enough. There are only eight applications and only five of them have corrections experience. The deadline to apply is up in another two and a half weeks. One of the applicants recently sold ink that disappears. Selling magic tricks at Magic Max in St. Cloud was the most recent job of a former New York corrections officer who's applied for the Osceola County jail chief's job.
