| Felon Headed Back To Jail on Gun Charge |

Gun charges have landed a 26-year-old felon back in prison. Perry Sykes Jr., found guilty in March of two felony firearms charges related to a 2008 shooting, was sentenced Tuesday to five years and three years in Illinois Department of Corrections. The concurrent sentences were for charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm and reckless discharge of a firearm. Sykes was arrested Nov. 23, 2008, after shots were fired near a North Church Street residence. There was no indication the shots hit anything, caused any property damage or injured anyone. Sykes waived his right to a jury trial and asked that a judge hear the evidence. Circuit Judge Richard Mitchell found him guilty at a bench trial March 17. Read More. |
