A judge Thursday sentenced Rio School District board member Brian Martin to 17 years in prison for sexually abusing a minor and fathering her child. During the sentencing, the judge questioned Martin’s credibility after his lawyer pointed out that Martin chose to quickly take responsibility and admitted shortly after his arrest that he sexually abused a minor and fathered her child. Ventura County Superior Court Judge Edward Brodie said Martin had no choice, because the victim’s baby had his DNA and his conduct was criminally indefensible. Read More. |
