Last week, we had the pleasure of hosting Michigan Department of Corrections Director Pat Caruso to discuss the capital area's Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Initiative. Pat and I have worked together for a long time. Yet, it was still interesting to hear her talk of the immense culture change that has happened at and around the Department of Corrections. The Michigan Prisoner Re-entry Initiative and the topic of "re-entry" of ex-offenders into our society is just one example of this change. The numbers show the re-entry program is working.
