| Ex-Mayor Gets Maximum Sentence |

DETROIT, MI (Michigan Radio) - Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick received an 18 month to five-year prison sentence Tuesday. Judge David Groner found Kilpatrick guilty of violating probation last month. Groner told Kilpatrick that continuing his probation was "no longer an option." Groner said the former Mayor deliberately hid money that could have been used to pay his court-ordered restitution then lied about it during court hearings. Groner says that behavior justified a sentence that exceeds standard guidelines. Read More. |
