Savannah, Georgia - A man wanted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department was arrested by the United States Marshals Service Dallas Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team on June 1, 2010. Jose Jesus Flores, 22, was wanted by the Chatham County Sheriff’s Department on a warrant for Failure to Appear issued on May 25, 2010 in Savannah, Georgia. Flores was on bond for numerous charges to include Cruelty to Children, Family Violence Act Aggravated Assault, False Imprisonment, and two counts of Family Violence Act Battery. The original charges stemmed from an incident back in November of 2009. Additional information obtained by the Superior Court of Chatham County was that Flores was an illegal alien. The investigation revealed that Flores had made statements that he was going to kidnap his children and flee the country. On May 26, 2010, the case was referred to the U.S. Marshals Savannah Office of the Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force. An extensive investigation began, running leads in the Savannah, Georgia area. On June 1, 2010, the Savannah Task Force generated information that placed Flores in the Dallas, Texas area. This information was immediately sent to the U.S. Marshals Dallas/Fort Worth Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team to assist in locating and arresting Flores. Within a couple of hours of receiving the information, the Marshals DFW Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team had Flores in custody and transported him to the Dallas County Jail to await extradition proceedings to bring him back to Savannah, Georgia. Annually, investigations carried out by the U.S. Marshals result in the apprehension of over 36, 000 federal fugitives.
