Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- Saving taxpayer money while making sentencing tougher for violent criminals is what a bill signed Wednesday aims to do. One woman said the bill is a small piece of justice for her grandson who was killed seven years ago. "There will always be an emptiness in my heart because he's gone," said Lily Lenderman. As a grandmother, nothing in the world could fill that space. Seven years ago, her 27-year-old grandson, Michael, was killed while riding a moped, run over by an habitual offender. The man who killed her grandson was sentenced to seven months in jail, served four months, and was arrested just 18 days later after committing another offense. Read More. |
