| Jail Employees Say Complaints Ignored |

ANCHORAGE, Alaska – State prison employees say their complaints are being ignored by Department of Corrections Commissioner Joe Schmidt. DOC employees claim to be upset about Schmidt questioning a legislative audit that recommends increasing staffing in prisons. In April, the Prison Guard Union passed a vote of no confidence in Schmidt. Employees say Schmidt is retaliating by rejecting the audit that the guards claim would help issues of overcrowding.
