| Prisoner Convicted For Assaulting Guard |

A Philadelphia man already serving a state prison sentence could get more time behind bars after being convicted Thursday in Schuylkill County Court of assaulting a corrections officer. Laron Philmore, 25, did not react as jurors found him guilty of aggravated assault and simple assault. The jury of seven women and five men deliberated a little more than an hour before reaching its decision. Judge Cyrus Palmer Dolbin, who presided over the two-day trial, ordered preparation of a presentence investigation and said he would schedule Philmore's sentencing within 60 days. Assistant District Attorney Michael A. O'Pake said he would ask Dolbin to impose a sentence consecutive to the one Philmore already is serving. Read More. |
