| Inmate Abuse Gets Guard Suspended |

PAXTON – A correctional officer at the Ford County Jail has been suspended with pay as federal authorities investigate claims that he sexually abused a female inmate. Ford County Sheriff Mark Doran and the accused officer – Phillip Santefort – met Tuesday with officials from the U.S. Department of Justice, which is conducting the investigation into the former inmate's complaint. After the meeting, Santefort was placed on administrative leave, effective immediately. He will continue to receive his $32,500 salary plus benefits, pending the outcome of the investigation, Doran said. Read More. |
